Introduction:
The Indian Constitution grants Fundamental Rights to citizens, prescribes certain Fundamental Duties, and provides Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) to guide the government. All three are essential for maintaining balance in democracy and ensuring the overall development of citizens.

The Directive Principles are borrowed from the Constitution of Ireland and are included in Part IV (Articles 36–51) of the Indian Constitution. They provide guidelines to the government for governance:

  • Free and compulsory education (Article 45).
  • Protection of the environment (Article 48A).
  • Promotion of international peace and security (Article 51).
