Introduction: In the later Vedic period, many small states emerged in the Indian subcontinent, which were known as Janapadas. By the 6th century BC, these Janapadas collectively formed 16 Mahajanapadas. During the same period, Jainism and Buddhism emerged, which deeply influenced Indian society and culture.
